Aspiga reopening at The Guild

For those keen to get back into the shops for some retail therapy we are excited to announce that Aspiga, one of the UK’s leading ethical and sustainable fashion brands, will be re-opening at The Guild (formerly Wilton Shopping Village) on Monday 12th April.   Showcasing the new Spring Summer '21 Collections, the shop will be open Mon-Sat, 10am to 5pm.

2021 is an exciting year for Aspiga, marking its 15th anniversary since launch.  Along with the Wilton store, Aspiga is opening four further stores.  Two in Cornwall, one in Evesham Worcester, plus their annual pop-up store in Chelsea, London.

Founded by, ex-charity worker and Hampshire resident Lucy Macnamara in 2006, Aspiga was set up with the intention of supporting talented artisans in Kenya and helping stimulate business through trade.  An award-winning brand and finalist in the Drapers Sustainability Fashion Awards 2021, Brand of the Year, Aspiga continues to go from strength to strength.

“It all began in 2003 when I was on holiday in South Africa and was awestruck by the artistry of the delicate, hand-beaded sandals from Kenya, and the intricately adorned belts and beautiful bright jewellery.   So, the next year I fixed a trip to Kenya and was astounded by the handwork of all the creative artisans, and decided it needed to be shared with the world,” commented Lucy Macnamara.

Over the next few years, the Aspiga collection increased to offer a complete holiday wardrobe, made by local suppliers in Kenya and India, with its ongoing commitment of fighting poverty through trade.    In 2012 the online business launched.  Lucy’s commitment to sustainable and ethical fashion practises remains at the heart of Aspiga. From the production processes to the materials, fabrics, and packaging, Aspiga chooses carefully with a commitment to reducing and offsetting their carbon footprint.   Materials are sourced from natural, organic, renewable, and recycled sources wherever possible.

Over the years Aspiga has garnered many celebrity fans and eco-warrior supporters including Liz Earle, Olivia Firth and Julia Bradbury.
